Lt. Gov. Dubie says Seal of Quality Program too important to lose
Montpelier, VT , March 25, 2010 – Lt. Governor Brian Dubie today released a statement calling for the continuation of the Vermont Seal of Quality program. The Douglas administration announced days ago that his agency will retire the program.
Dubie, whose “Jobs Tour” in Barre today took him to a creamery and a specialty meats producer, issued this statement:
“As co-owner and partner in our family’s maple syrup operation, I know the tremendous value of the Vermont brand. As a specialty food producer myself, I know the huge value that the Vermont Seal of Quality brings.
Ensuring that the strength and integrity of that brand is upheld is of vital importance to the economic success of the Vermonters who produce and sell Vermont products around the state, around our country and around the world. As Lt. Governor, I have promoted those products far and wide, and I know first hand that anything that carries the Made in Vermont label is recognized for quality.
I disagree with the Douglas administration’s decision to retire this important program. I will do everything in my power as Lt. Governor to protect our state’s brand. The Vermont Seal of Quality Program’s standards should be maintained, the program should be monitored, and the standards should be enforced.”

Outstanding.
Now, please tell us how you feel about paid sick leave for the Vermonters who make those products?

Doug, he does not care about the sick leave. Workers are disposable.
